Implementing courier software into your courier company on a regular basis is an important part of being able to keep up to the competition. In any industry, the company who can stay the most on top of the latest technology, including both hardware and software, is going to have an edge over the competition as these products allow them to operate internally in a more efficient manner as well as offering many services and functions to their customers which aren’t offered by their competition, and this is certainly true in the courier industry. Things like GPS tracking, real time online quotes, and automated electronic billing are all things that customers are looking for in their courier companies, and you need to find ways to integrate these kinds of offerings into your company if you haven’t already done so.
When it comes time to implement new dispatch software into your business you’re going to have to find a way to do it in as seamless a way as possible so that you don’t disrupt your companies services to your customers, or so that you don’t try to offer new services which are not yet ready to be offered to the public. The first step after installing the new software or purchasing the hardware or hand held units required to run the program is to begin training your courier drivers on the new equipment and with the new programs. Nothing is more frustrating to customers than finding a new service offered to them which then doesn’t work correctly because the employees do not know how to use the new system or because it has not been adequately tested, so be sure to do both.
The next step on your agenda is going to be sending an email or a letter to your customers to let them know about the changes to your business so that they can take advantage of them. When customers see that you are taking steps to improve your business and their overall experience with your company they are far more likely to stay involved with you than if you simply remain at the same level of service that you have always offered.
Finally, you can implement your newest software as a marketing tool. Send out a press release and put out new marketing material reflecting the changes in your business to help try and attract some new customers to your company.
